Madcon
Madcon is one of this millenium's most successful pop acts to come out of Scandinavia. Formed by Yosef Wolde-Mariam and Tshawe Baqwa in Norway 1992, Madcon has to date released six albums. Their big international breakthrough came in 2008 when their version of Franki Valli and The Four Seasons’ 1967 song 'Beggin’ stormed up the charts around the world. Madcon’s version of 'Beggin’, produced by former producent trio 3Elementz, generated international number one chart positions in a multitude of countries and quickly went on to become a multi-platinum selling single (as well as making it one of the biggest all time hits ever to come out of Norway).
In 2017, italian rock act Måneskin recorded and released a cover of Madcon’s version of Beggin’. Four years later Måneskin entered and won the 2021 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest and their cover of Beggin’ sparked a massive new interest in this over half a century old composition. Many new fans also found their way to Madcon’s version, with it quickly reaching over 400m streams and 250m views.
'Glow' is the other superhit from the band which they released in 2010, and performed at the 2010 Eurovision that was held in Norway in front of 200M viewers. The song was accompanied by a flashmob, with people all over the world joining together in a dance. The single became one of the biggest hits of all time in Norway, reaching more than 10× platinum status in Norway and the same certification in Germany.
